Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton (DFL) has proposed a 50-foot buffer zone for all lands adjacent to state waterways as a means of both protecting state waters and increasing wildlife habitat. Dayton said Jan. 16 that his proposal would create 125,000 acres of wildlife habitat while reducing erosion and chemical runoff.
