Microsoft officials took advantage of the stage it was given at EclipseCon to continue its push to embrace open-source projects and technologies. In a keynote speech here March 19, Sam Ramji, Microsoft's chief open-source advocate and director of platform technology strategy, said the software vendor will support two key Eclipse technologies, and he hinted that there may be more to come. The announcement came during a show in which the Eclipse Foundation itself continued its expansion beyond development tools. Foundation officials March 17 unveiled a run-time initiative based on Equinox, its implementation of the OSGi (Open Services Gateway Initiative) technology.
