Completion of the first example of the revolutionary Futura Carrier, RMS Kiel, may have been delayed by insolvency at its builder, but that has not stopped two more companies reaching agreement with the company that developed the concept - New Logistics GmbH in Kiel, Germany. The Futura Carrier is a completely new type of sea-river vessel with unit-based modular construction, intended for use in shallow water on Europe's inland waterways. The concept combines a novel hullform, innovative propulsion and propulsors with an optional air bubble lubrication system designed to reduce resistance.
