The JOC Group's white paper on 2012 port productivity put three Gulf ports in its global top 10, with Dubai's Jebel Ali leading the regional berth productivity rankings at 81, ahead of Khorfakkan on 74 and Salalahon72. Winning the Expo 2020 trade convention bid means regional traffic to Dubai will only increase, and especially to Jebel Ali. If you have ambitions to be a top transhipment hub, it helps to have gateway cargo. With a 50:50 mix, Jebel Ali, which saw throughput of 13.3Mteuin2012, will remain the region's dominant player for the foreseeable future.
