Sedef Shipyard, Turkey's biggest privately owned yard, is counting on a major Turkish navy order as it continues to struggle to emerge from recessionary doldrums. In December, the yard was notified by the government that it had been chosen against foreign competition to build a landing platform dock for the navy. Final contract talks are in progress. Sedef project officer Gencay Ok told IHS Maritime that the company hoped the final contract would be signed later this year, adding: "When we sign the contract, we will immediately start the design procedure."
