摘要

The efforts of telecommunications major Sri Lanka Telecom to seek compensation from an old ship that damaged a submarine cable has reportedly failed as the ship was already beached when the request was made. Panamanian flagged container carrier Acx Hibiscus owned by Japanese company Tostec was on its final voyage to Alang in the Indian state of Gujarat for beaching when the incident occurred in April. Anchored at Colombo in dangerous proximity to cables connecting the Maldives, it had been warned to shift its position but had not moved.
