Shipowners are turning to Norway's Eksportfinans as an alternative means for funding new vessels, its head of shipping, Tellef Tellefsen, told Fairplay. The credit agency provides financing for up to 12 years for export projects, with 80-90% of lending dedicated to ships built at Norwegian-owned yards for either foreign owners or Norwegian owners within the offshore sector -ie ship equipment and oil rigs.
