Peter Hinchliffe, marine director of the International Chamber of Commerce, expanded on the costs shipping faces as it goes green.rnHe told Fairplay that the cost flash points are: ballast water treatment to comply with the ballast water convention; SOx technologies; NOx, which reduces engine efficiency; and the problematic state of the global economy.rn"Shipping is facing a massive cost burden," said Hinchliffe, stressing that "ramping up" the fuel costs is a "real concern".
