Sugar industry investors are committing more money to Middle East refineries, which is having a positive knock-on effect for ports and shipping in the region.rnFor instance, a sugar refinery with capacity of 600,000 tonnes a year is planned at Sohar, the port in Oman. There was a signing ceremony last week between the port and Al Hafri Sugar Refinery. Construction on a 15ha site at the port will begin shortly, reported Oman's information ministry.The€160M ($235M) plant is scheduled to start production in March 2010.
