The tanker market looks set to remain at a high level for the next few months. Refinery capacity is gradually increasing in the US, but 800,000 barrels per day of capacity remains off line. Thus, although the clean market is falling, it came from a high level and has far to fall before it becomes painful. Storm damage also caused difficulties in the natural gas market in the US Gulf. By dint of record imports of liquefied petroleum gas, propane stocks have been built up for the winter by about 1.3M barrels a week. Inventory stocks total 69.4M barrels, which is in line with historical averages.
