The demands and requirements placed on today's Fire Service continue to change at an ever-increasing pace, so it is not surprising the demands and requirements placed on the PPE kit they use continue to change at a similar rate. The levels of protection which that kit provides to the wearer have long been a prime consideration, and here in the UK those levels have certainly been very high for a number of years now. Although outstanding protection will continue to play a critical role in the future, it is no longer enough for manufacturers to provide that alone, and other factors are increasingly coming into play.
