摘要

No pilot ever got "trapped" by weather, because airplanes can fly faster than weather moves. And there is always the option to land and watch the weather go by. That is not to say that no pilot has ever been surprised by weather. That happens all the time and is one of the things that makes weather a leading cause of serious accidents. For a pilot to be surprised by weather he has to overlook a lot of things, including, if VFR, the view out the windshield. He also has to harbor a lack of knowledge on the subject. I am always amazed when I see the offering of plain language weather reports. Any pilot who can't bring himself to learn to read an encoded forecast or weather report just really shouldn't fly except on clear and calm days with a 15° temperature and dew point spread. And I guess he'd need an interpreter to get the spread.
