I bought a new 1968 Cessna Skylane 40 years ago. I flew that airplane for almost 1,000 hours in just over two years. Most of the flying was in the eastern and central United States, though I did get as far west as Carefree, Arizona, in that Skylane. I liked the airplane but it had one shortcoming: We have three kids and at the time they were growing pretty fast. So, the four-place Skylane gave way to a Cherokee Six with room to spare.
