摘要

Although it is only held once every two years, Warbirds Over Wanaka (WOW) is always among the most anticipated displays in the airshow calendar. This year's event, held near Lake Wanaka on New Zealand's south island, was another opportunity to witness historic aircraft in their element. The flying extravaganza took place over the Easter weekend, March 30 to April 1, and featured World War Two aircraft, Cold War and modern jets, and aerobatic teams. The only thing that slightly marred 2018's WOW was an accident on the ground in which a Yak-3 coming in to land collided with a 'cherry picker' elevator platform. Thankfully, nobody was hurt although the aircraft's right wing was extensively damaged. Other than this unfortunate incident, which is being investigated, WOW's organisers can congratulate themselves on yet another dazzling display weekend.
