Tetra Pak of Lausanne, Switzerland, has launched what it claims is the world's first microwaveable aseptic packaging. It is aimed at the growing market for prepared sauces in both retail distribution and food services. The company says that it is ideal for today's consumers who are short of time, but are looking for high-quality, quickly made meals. Independent consumer research has revealed that the Tetra Wedge Aseptic (TWA) microwaveable 200 S, with its distinctive shape and specially developed packaging material, it is more robust and easy-to-handle than stand-up pouches made from plastic. Other advantages over plastic Include better heating characteristics brought about by the packaging's shape. This avoids overheating and the packaging being too hot to handle.
