摘要

To date, this has been one of the most placid prelims since the sector unveiled its first set of results in the gentle summer of 1990. Fifteen years on and easing into its fourth Asset Management Period, the sector is displaying a sense of maturity with exceptional items focussing on explicit challenges relating to the current AMP, whilst diversification programmes fail to produce nasty shocks. A test of this new-found maturity will be the way in which potential water shortages are dealt with this summer. This will prove a fascinating counterpoint to the summer of shortages exactly a decade ago, which were instrumental in fomenting the hostile political and regulatory climate of the late 1990s.
