There are literally dozens of ways hoteliers can significantly reduce energy waste, including installing compact fluorescent lamps, adding rooftop solar panels and purchasing cogeneration units. The methods and technologies run the gamut from expensive undertakings to essentially free programs. But no energy-saving initiative can be considered truly effective without an accurate way to quantify usage.
