Peter King's new book invites the reader to think about his subject from first principles and draws on a number of mainly conservative thinkers to achieve this end. There are a lot of thought-provoking ideas in the book, but I am left with the question-is this a textbook and, if so, is it one on housing finance? King offers a political economy approachrnto disentangling the role of the state and housing policy in relation to the market within a complex dynamic and open housing system.
