Corporate America may soon witness an influx of workers with body piercings and tattoos. About half of all people in their 20s have inked up or pierced parts of their bodies,, says a leading medical journal. Salons, design firms and retailers that target a younger demographic have embraced workers with tattoos and piercings harboring body jewelry. But traditional business-dress companies may find tattoos and piercings distracting. If you're among the latter, all is not lost. Workers can usually cover up their tattoos (most tattoos are in places other than the face) with clothing and remove the jewelry from their piercings. You can usually restrict people from showing body art or piercings with a well-documented grooming code that doesn't discriminate or burden one gender over the other. But some workers wear their decorations for religious or cultural reasons, and their legal rights are still evolving in the courts.
