While a reasonable ADA accommodation usually doesn't cost a bundle, there may still be times when making the accommodation just isn't possible. The ADA does allow you to refuse to accommodate a disabled worker if doing so would cause "undue hardship." How much hardship is undue? We wish there were a way to quantify it. But here are five factors the courts consider, and that you should, too: 1. Your overall financial resources. 2. The type of operations you engage in. 3. The number of employees at the affected facility. 4. The accommodation's impact on other employees' ability to do their duties. 5. The cost of the accommodation.
