If you're like most HR managers, you believe that negotiating skills are a crucial part of the job. In fact, 96% of HR executives in an exclusive HR21 survey said strong negotiating skills were "absolutely critical" (54%) or "very important" (42%) to success. That makes sense - whether landing a senior exec or keeping salaries under control - HR's negotiation skills make a difference. Yet only 28% of HR execs identified themselves as "good negotiators" who "get what they want." About 60% said they are "pretty good negotiators" who "sometimes feel they compromise too much."
