People regularly ask us what the best aviation apps are for the iPad and iPhone. The answer is, "The one that works best for you." But as a starting point, here are the ones that work best for us. iPad as MFD:WingX For an airplane without an MFD or, perhaps, even a GPS, WingX Pro is the weapon of choice. It's the closest thing to a portable GPS out there with critical features like groundspeed and track, terrain awareness and easy direct-to routing. It also has georeferenced approach charts, meaning it shows your position in the chart plan view.
