Now more than ever people are sharing their personal information online via a number of different mechanisms, for instance, on social media platforms such as Facebook. The sharing of personal information raises concerns surrounding the ownership of personal data including the right to have information erased from the online world. This is known as the 'Right to be Forgotten' and is contained in the European Commission Proposal for Regulation COM 2011/12.
