Virtual conferences are the star this issue. Going to them isn't as exciting as traveling somewhere new, and they lose something without the (formal and informal) in-person conversations. But as you'll see, we think they have a lot of value. Terry Ballard shares his experience at BookExpo, which was one of the first big conferences to announce participant cancellations, then postponement, then modification (page 8). Dave Shumaker attended the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL) conference, which altered its dates to better cater to the work-from-home crowd, but ironically didn't have to change its theme (page 10).
