摘要

The merger of Straumur and Burdaras in 2005 created Iceland's largest investment bank, Straumur-Burdaras. Since then the Bank has opened an office in Copenhagen and, when it acquired just over 50 percent of the UK specialist bank Stamford Partners, it gained a foothold in the UK and The Netherlands. Straumur-Burdaras subsequently has created a larger presence in London by establishing Corporate Finance, Debt Finance and Capital Markets divisions there and have been granted a licence to operate by the UK Financial Services Authority. The management team at Straumur-Burdaras has a clear goal - to become a leading Nordic investment bank - and intends to achieve that by offering integrated financial services to small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) in northern Europe. The Bank provides clients with integrated debt and equity finance as well as advice and, in some instances, is also prepared to top up on equity. This approach enables clients to finance deals at one bank rather than several and enables the team at Straumur-Burdaras to complete deals more quickly and efficiently.
