摘要

In retrospect, the beginning of any millennium is, essentially, a historic landmark. The beginning of this millennium is an important turning point even in the area of mergers and acquisitions. It is the period between the two largest acquisitions waves in history, which occurred at the global level. For the first time, transactions in Europe in the fifth (1992-1999) and sixth (2003-2008) waves reached approximately the same volume as in the US. It was mainly the policy of "open borders," legislative support for cross-border asset and capital transactions, and extensive privatization in Eastern and Central Europe that played a crucial role.
