In the 1965 Indo-Pak War, thanks to American largesse, Pakistan had a major edge in medium and heavy artillery. This slowed down and finally stopped our offensives in the Lahore and Sialkot sectors, and almost gave Pakistan a victory in Chamb. After the war, we inducted Soviet artillery systems in bulk and these (along with great superiority in air power) helped us prevail in the 1971 war. India later added 400-plus Bofors guns and won the 1999 Kargil war due to medium artillery (and the brave Infantry which had to initially pay a steep price, till a 100 guns were used to support each battalion attack).
