According to Ltd Gen.V.J.Sundaram, former director of the Hyderabad based DRDL(Defence Research and Development Laboratory), the research and development wing of the state owned DRDO( Defence Research and Development Organisation) and currently advisor (micro and nano systems),National Design and Research Forum, it is planned to launch an innovative initiative sometime next year at an estimated cost of Rs.975 million to design, develop and deploy miniature palm sized micro air vehicles(MAV) that will support both the civilian and defence sectors in activities such as flood mapping, monitoring the extent of damage wrought by natural disasters and even identifying militants holedrnup in buildings.'
