Current work investigates the effect of injection pressure and double injection of diesel fuel on combustion and emissions in a reactivity controlled compression ignition (RCCI) engine at part load condition with premixed natural gas via CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic) simulation coupled with chemical kinetic mechanism. The results indicate that high injection pressure of diesel fuel injection improves combustion features, which consequently decreases the amount of unburned hydrocarbon (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions. On the other side, less stratified mixture can be achieved with double injection of diesel fuel within the cylinder, which results in incomplete combustion and great emissions at part load. Results demonstrate that proper distribution of diesel fuel and formation of stratified mixture within the cylinder improves combustion development in RCCI strategy and then reduces HC and CO emissions at part load condition.
