The Council of the City of Cardiff is seeking to appoint an experienced hydropower contractor to undertake the design, construction, and short-term operation and maintenance of a hydropower scheme at the Radyr Weir, on the Taff river in southern Wales. Pre-qualification applications are due by 13 October. The contract is for the design and, subject to approval, the construction, operation and maintenance of a new abstraction channel, turbines, a fish pass, and associated infrastructure adjacent to the existing weir with a minimum working life of 20 years. The project is seen as a key renewable energy opportunity for Cardiff, supporting its sustainable energy ambitions. The estimated value of this contract is UK£ 2.2 million.
