Elemental Energy of Canada has achieved financial closure for its 16 MW Box Canyon hydropower project in Canada's British Columbia province, after securing C$ 61 million (US$ 56 million) in financing. Travelers Capital Corporation announced on 19 August that it had structured and arranged the nonrecourse project financing, which was provided by the Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services and Desjardins Financial Security Life Assurance Company. The run-of-river station will be constructed near Port Mellon, on the west shore of the Howe Sound, within the traditional territory of the Squamish Nation, which is a partner on the project. Sound Energy also took part in the development of the scheme.
