The Andean Development Corporation (CAF) has approved a loan of US$ 95 million for the construction of a hydropower project in San Jose, in the department of Cochabamba, Bolivia. The project is expected to have a capacity of 123.5 MW for the National Interconnected Service (SIN) from two stations: San Jose Ⅰ (54.9 MW) and San Jose Ⅱ (68.6 MW). The San Jose Ⅰ plant would be equipped with two 27.5 MW Pelton units, and San Jose Ⅱ with two 34.5 MW Pelton machines. The total cost of the project is estimated at US$ 225 million, of which the CAF loan will provide 38.7 per cent. The balance of the cost will be financed by the Bolivian Government, with a loan from the Banco Central de Bolivia (BCB) for US$ 230 million.
