摘要

A vibration damper based on an eddy current is a frequently used electro-mechanical system. This paper deals with determination of the damping coefficient of such an eddy current damper. For this purpose, Maxwell's relations are simplified to a single quasi-harmonic equation and solved using finite elements. The finite element analysis is done using 'PDEtool' in Matlab. The graphical post-processing is performed partly using PDEtool and partly using a short Matlab code.
