Performance impact of corporate entrepreneurship in the service sector: a contingency approach

摘要

In this paper, we follow a contingency approach and study how cooperation and the degree of technological intensity of the environment moderate the relationship between Corporate Entrepreneurship (CE) and performance in service firms. Our results support the need to disentangle the effects of different CE variables on different measures of performance. Firms should be aware that performance impact of CE activities is two-fold: internal and external. The moderating effects of cooperation and environment on performance suggest that, for service firms, corporate entrepreneurship activities aiming to increase market share gain market access and search for opportunities will be fruitful when cooperating with other entities for those purposes, and in low technology-intensive sectors.
