The manganese distribution ratios between CaO saturated CaO-FeO-SiO_2 slag and molten iron at 1 873 K were found to decrease with increasing SiO_2 content. However, the sulfur distribution ratios are nearly constant at 11 and the sulfide capacities were calculated approximately as 4 x 10~(-2) to 9 x 10~(-2). In general, the thermodynamic properties studied in the present investigation were found to remain nearly constant as SiO_2 is added keeping CaO saturation.
