South Korea secured defence exports worth USD3.49 billion in 2015: a slight decrease against sales in 2014 but the third year in succession that the value of international sales has exceeded USD3 billion. Chang Myoung-jin, the commissioner of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA: the government agency that oversees defence procurement, exports and defence industrial development) told the Yon-hap news agency on 18 January that the scale of exports secured during the year was notable given continuing "unfavourable circumstances".
