The keel was laid of Russia's first Project 20386 missile corvette on 28 October at Severnaya Verf (Northern Shipyard) JSC in St Petersburg. The ship, Derzkiy ('Defiant'), is expected to be launched in 2019 and delivered to the Russian Navy in 2021, according to local media. Attending the ceremony, Vice Admiral Viktor Bursuk, Deputy Commander-in-Chief for Armaments, declared that the ship "is a logical extension of the [Project] 20380 series and a breakthrough into the future".
