Boeing is licensing technology and allowing Symantec to hire away 65 cyber experts from its Narus business, a group that the aerospace giant bought in 2010, Symantec announced on 12 January. Financial terms were not disclosed. Boeing had described its efforts to grow its cyber security business, and commercial offering in particular, as a way to leverage existing cyber security know-how developed for national security customers. When Boeing bought Narus the company had about 150 employees, with Symantec interviewing nearly all of the existing employees before hiring the 65. "This acquisition is another step forward in our strategy to develop integrated solutions for better network visibility, threat detection, and cyber security," then president of Boeing Network and Space Systems and current chief executive of Leidos Roger Krone said in a statement released when Boeing bought Narus.
