The Turkish Navy's portfolio includes a broad range of missions that have led to a significant increase in the service's visibility in recent years, both within and outside its area of operations. To adequately meet these tasks, Turkish Navy Commander Admiral Biilent Bostanoglu said his ultimate goal is to build "a modern, versatile, interoperable, and rapidly deployable navy". Thanks to a number of ongoing procurement and modernisation programmes, he told IHS Jane's, the Turkish Navy is en route to becoming a "regional force projection navy".
