Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity in the defence and secu- I rity markets slumped during the second quarter (Q2) of 2015 due to a plunge in the volume of transactions in Europeans markets. While the tempo of activity in other markets remained constant, the dearth of deals in the EU meant that activity worldwide fell by 19% from the previous quarter to just 29 transactions, although this level was virtually unchanged from the same period in 2014. The aggregate value of all transactions, meanwhile, was just USD3 billion: down from USD8 billion in the first quarter.
