Poland has introduced new legislation giving the state control over ownership of companies in strategic industries such as defence. The law on control of investments in strategic industry sectors - covering the energy, telecommunications, chemical, and military industrial domains - was signed into law by Polish president Andrzej Duda this month and is expected to come into force in September. Under the law changes in shareholding structures of strategic entities must be brought to the attention of the Ministry of Treasury, which will have three months to decide whether to approve the transaction.
