France is targeting a joint export policy to give UK industry more access to its domestic equipment programmes.The French ambassador to London, Bernard Ernie, told the Northern Defence Industries conference held near Bristol, UK, on 13 March that the Anglo-French defence alliance is exploring new areas for collaboration and reiterated calls for other European nations to join the bilateral project.The UK and France agreed to wide-ranging defence co-operation in the Lancaster House treaties of November 2010, heralding an expanded range of defence research-and-development activities. Ernie indicated that France was willing to take the next step and bring the two nations' defence sectors closer together.
