The US Department of Defense (DoD) and the White House expect in the next several weeks to have finalised decisions regarding the country's military presence in Afghanistan after the security lead is turned over to local forces. Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta told reporters on 12 November that alternative force postures proposed by the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan were being considered.
