Pakistan is aiming to increase defence exports as part of a campaign to expand its private sector and provide support to state-owned enterprises under increasing pressure from the demands of the 'war on terror', the head of Pakistan's Defence Export Promotion Organisation (DEPO) has told Jane's.rnMajor General Muhammad Ijaz Hussain Awan, director general of DEPO, said at the Defence Services Asia (DSA) Exhibition and Conference in Kuala Lumpur on 19 April that defence exports of Pakistani-made equipment had grown to more than USD400 million a year by 2009 and that continued growth is being targeted in Southeast Asia,rnthe Middle East and Africa.
