France has approved the procurement of a third Mistral-class amphibious assault ship (Batiment de Projection et de Commandment - BPC) and awarded the construction contract to STX France Cruise.rnIn a statement on 16 April, prime contractor STX said that work on the 199 m-long, 21,600-ton vessel had already commenced at its shipyard in Saint-Nazaire.rnDCNS will provide the integrated combat system, which includes the SENIT 9 combat data system; SIC 21 command support system for joint operations; and Syracuse Ⅲ fleet satellite communicationsrnsystem with Link 11 and Link 16.
