The six members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) agreed on 15 December to establish a rapid-reaction force in response to regional security threats during a summit convened in Kuwait.rnThe decision to create the force among the well-resourced militaries of Bahrain. Kuwait. Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates follows a first foray into counter-insurgency by the Saudis in the border zone with Yemen.
