The new Norwegian Intelligence Surveillance Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) battalion had its first major test during Exercise 'Battle Griffin 2005', held in the Trondelag area of Norway in early March. The battalion has been formed as part of the Norwegian element of the Prague Capabilities Commitment of 2002 and is intended principally to support international missions, where the provision of timely and accurate intelligence is of particular importance.
