Fears are growing that a widespread crackdown on prominent Kurdish activists will lead to renewed violence in Turkey's mainly Kurdish south-east. In two separate clashes last week six members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and three Turkish soldiers were killed. They were the first casualties in six weeks.
