BAE Systems said on 20 January that it has reached agreements to acquire the military GPS unit of Collins Aerospace and the Airborne Tactical Radios (ATR) unit of Raytheon for a combined total of USD2.2 billion. The UK-headquartered group said that it will pay USD1.95 billion in cash for the GPS venture and USD275 million for the Raytheon unit, adding that the purchases - structured as asset transactions - will bring tax benefits of USD365 million and USD50 million respectively.
