A report by the Finnish Air Force released on 25 June has ruled out the possibility of extending the service life of the country's fleet of F/A-18C/D Hornet fighter aircraft. A statement released on the Finnish Ministry of Defence's (MoD's) HX Programme blog said that an extension would cause unreasonable risks to Fin-land's defence capabilities and significant negative cost effects, particularly as new weapons and systems would need to be integrated in addition to under-taking performance upgrades on the aircraft.
